Hall of Fame

Since 1989, the Sports Hall of Fame has honored local legends who have inspired others with their athletic ability, coaching skills, and/or sports management skills and have raised the level of importance of sports on the Peninsula.

The Hall of Fame, located here at the San Mateo County History Museum, has grown to include more than 250 people including Olympians, professional athletes, coaches, and many others.

This year, the Historical Association will be hosting a reception on Thursday, June 27 at the San Mateo County History Museum. The inductions will take place in the Museum’s historic Courtroom “A”.

2024 Inductees

Brent Brennan: A product of the mid-Peninsula, he revived the football program at San Jose State University and is the new head football coach at the University of Arizona.

Benjamin Burr-Kirven: The Sacred Heart Prep graduate is a former football linebacker at the University of Washington; he also played for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

Frankie Ferrari: A Burlingame High School grad, he is a former basketball point guard at the University of San Francisco; he played professionally in Europe.

Samuel Goldman: He was a sports journalism teacher at Crestmoor High School and Skyline College and a sports information director at San Francisco State University, Skyline and the West Coast Conference.

Lindsay James (DeAlba): A prep softball star at Sequoia High School, she later became a diamond standout at the University of California-Berkeley.

Terilyn Moe: A high-scoring prep basketball player at Terra Nova High School, she entered the record book in the sport at the University of Nevada-Reno.
