On Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., the History Museum will celebrate Holiday Traditions from around the World.  Your family can prepare for a reflective holiday season by creating their own crafts inspired by those brought to California by various immigrant groups.

Holiday Traditions from around the World is held in conjunction with Redwood City’s Hometown Holidays celebration.

Hands-On Activities

While many cultures and groups do not celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, many observe other festive events and celebrations during the winter months. Join us in learning about the various holiday traditions enjoyed by different immigrant groups that make up California and our very own San Mateo County.

Among the crafts, kids can create the following:

  • Mexican bird rattles
  • Jewish dreidels
  • Japanese hagoita paddles
  • English party crackers
  • And more!
