W hile Silicon Valley is recognized for the high-tech businesses of today, the Peninsula has been home to hundreds of innovators for many decades in a variety of fields including Agriculture, Arts & Entertainement, Biotech & Medical, Development, Electronics, Finance, Industrial Manufacturing, Information Technology and Services.

Digital Timeline

The Digital Timeline explores the stories of a wide variety of local innovators. It includes text, photographs and film clips. It will be updated on an ongoing basis. If you have an innovator to suggest for the timeline, please contact us.

Paul Cook Theater of Innovation

Named after Raychem founder Paul Cook, the Theater of Innovation features films on local innovators created for the History Museum. Innovators and innovative organizations featured include: Ampex, David D. Bohannon, Paul Cook, Cow Palace, Henry Doelger, Thomas J. Fogarty, T. Jack Foster, Carl and Fred Gellert, Bob Helperin, J. Burgess Jamieson, Charles Johnson, Franklin “Pitch” Johnson, Lane Family, Bill Laughlin, Rod McLellan, Gordon Moore, Miller Ream, Tom Siebel and G.W. Williams.

On September 14, 2024, the Grand Opening of Peninsula Innovators Changing the World was celebrated with a panel discussion. Moderated by Claire Mack, the panelists included: John Root, Cow Palace; Peter Hammar and Bob Wilson, Ampex; Tim Jenks, Raychem; John Giusti, Giusti Farms; Fedele Bauccio, Saga; and Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, Tesla.
