The Foster Family

2003 San Mateo County History Makers

The T. Jack Foster, Sr. family envisioned a planned community in the 1950s, featuring novel concepts in design, engineering, financing, and governmental participation. The concepts were deemed to be so futuristic as to inspire the Modern Art Museum in San Francisco to put models and artists’ renderings of the new Foster City on display.

Today the result is an attractive development, which is a home and workplace for tens of thousands of County residents. Over the years the Fosters have participated in many community causes. It is the Historical Association’s privilege to pay homage to their activities as builders and sustainers of our County.
