Dr. Stanger Legacy Society
Planned Giving
The Dr. Stanger Legacy Society was formed to recognize and honor those persons who have made a documented planned gift to the San Mateo County Historical Association.
Members of the Dr. Stanger Legacy Society periodically receive helpful tax and financial planning information and invitations to special events to celebrate their thoughtful planning.
How to Make a Gift
Gift in Life
Offer a gift of cash, securities or other assets, such as real estate.
Bequest
Provide for loved ones, the San Mateo County Historical Association and others through a provision in your will.
Revocable Living Trust
Control the distribution of your assets, including bequests to the San Mateo County Historical Association, without going through probate.
Life Insurance
Make a large gift at a small cost by simply giving a new or existing policy designating the San Mateo County Historical Association as beneficiary.
Pooled Income Fund
An irrevocable gift to the Legacy fund allows you to receive an income for life and a significant tax deduction. Upon death, the principal reverts to the San Mateo County Historical Association.
Charitable Remainder Trust
The San Mateo County Historical Association will receive an income from an asset for a given period of years. The asset is later returned to you, a family member, or other beneficiary.
Charitable Gift Annuity
Receive a fixed income for life and remove assets from your taxable estate with a gift of cash or securities.
Gift of Real Estate
The tax laws allow you to give the San Mateo County Historical Association your personal residence and receive an immediate income tax deduction, yet you and/or your spouse may continue to live there for the remainder of your lifetime or for a set number of years.
Memorial Gift
Can be made through any of the instruments above by designating the gift in memory of a loved one.
The General Endowment
All unrestricted bequests are planned to the San Mateo County Historical Association general endowment. The income produced by this fund is used to augment the organization's annual income.
